Volunteer at the Peach Festival

Held in Gilbert, SC, the Lexington County Peach Festival is organized and led by community volunteers.  What started as a community BBQ in 1958 has transformed into an event bigger than the town itself. With an estimated 35,000+ people attending, we rely on a strong base of incredible volunteers.

VOLUNTEER SHIFTS

Primary shift on July 4th:

  • 1st Shift: 9am - 3pm

  • 2nd Shift: 11am - 5pm

  • 3rd Shift: 3pm - 9pm

Can’t commit on July 4th? We still welcome your involvement. From pre-event preparation to behind-the-scenes support, there are meaningful ways to serve before and after the big day.

VOLUNTEER ROLES

Concessions: Join the fun at our festival concessions stands! You'll sell and serve delicious peach ice cream, fresh peach treats, BBQ sandwiches, drinks, chips, and more to happy festival-goers. Provide friendly, fast service with a smile while helping make the day special for thousands of visitors.

Retail & Concessions: Help run our retail and concessions areas by selling a mix of festival merchandise, peach-inspired goodies, drinks, sandwiches, chips, and other treats. You'll interact with guests, handle sales, restock items, and keep the stands running smoothly for a great visitor experience.

Park Set Up (July3rd): Be one of the first on the scene to help transform Gilbert Community Park into festival central! You'll pull supplies from storage, set up tables, shelters, trash bins, equipment, and other essentials so everything is ready for our Peach Festival crowds.

Supply Set UP (July 3rd): Organize and prepare all the supplies needed for a successful day. You'll prep and distribute items like food ingredients, serving materials, and park setup gear to ensure our concessions, retail areas, and festival grounds are fully stocked and ready to go.

Park Break Down (July 5th): Help wrap up the festival by breaking down equipment, tents, tables, and supplies after the event. You'll carefully pack everything back into storage so the park is restored and ready for the next gathering—your efforts make cleanup quick and efficient!

Park Clean Up: Keep our beautiful Gilbert Community Park spotless! You'll pick up trash throughout the festival grounds and school areas, empty bins, and help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all attendees from start to finish.

Fundraising: Support the future of the Lexington County Peach Festival by helping solicit ads, sponsorships, and donations. Reach out to local businesses and community members to secure support that keeps this beloved free event going strong for years to come.

Food Prep / Kitchen: Get hands-on in the kitchen making the festival's signature treats! You'll prepare BBQ sandwiches, peel fresh peaches for storage and cobblers, make peach cobblers, brew tea, mix slushies, and help with other food prep to keep our concessions stocked with tasty peach delights.

Pageant Support: Assist with our Peach Festival Pageant operations! You'll help with setup, backstage support, contestant coordination, and general pageant needs to ensure this special tradition runs smoothly and celebrates our community's talent.

Financial Aid for Students

The Gilbert Community Club provides a $350 college scholarship to students who give their time to the Lexington County Peach Festival. A student must volunteer, at minimum six (6) hours, for at least 3 peach festival events before their junior year of college, with at least one year of college remaining, to qualify. Scholarship funds are payable to the student volunteer’s current college. Volunteer Registration

For 2026 we requiring all volunteers to register. Please select the shift and roles where you'd like to lend a hand. We'll be in touch! Student volunteers need to complete the student sections to track scholarship eligibility.
